1 gallon of raw milk

Starting the third week, day 15 of the raw milk cure.

I slept well last night, had the window open and the fan going. A storm is coming in and the front dropped the temperatures down about 20 degrees. I think the storm caused a headache though. I woke up at 3:30 with it. I’m not susceptible to pressure headaches, but maybe the milk is making me more sensitive? I don’t know. I just know that while I go to sleep with a headache, I don’t wake up with them. Except this morning of course.

It’s the beginning of my third week of the milk cure. I’m still at 13 cups of milk today.

Today I spent part of the day changing out my closet. All of the 14’s were too large. I’m solidly in a size 12 now. Unfortunately, I’m still not able to wear any of my size 10 clothes. After that I ran a few errands, It’s hard to fit a lot of errands into a short period (45 minutes). I have to be frugal with my time and plan it well. I guess I did since I made it home with 5 minutes to spare until my phone chimed.

As the rain departed, so did most of my headache. But I still felt lethargic and the small headache that remained was enough to keep me quiet. What I really wanted was a nap, but I’ve learned from experience that naps lasting less than 2 hours make me feel worse than not taking a nap in the first place. And being on milk every hour, that means a nap is out of the question.

The detoxing symptoms kicked in fairly early this afternoon, about 2pm.  It was one of those nights where I had to stay very close to a bathroom, so iPad and bluetooth speakers to the rescue.  Quiet night.  But at least, the detoxing and GI symptoms wait until the afternoon to hit. This means that I know I can get things done in the morning with no issues. This would be a lot worse if the symptoms ran all day long.

By 9pm, I couldn’t keep my eyes open.  It’s cooled down enough from the storm that I shut the AC off, windows open.

Vital Statistics

Slight down on my weight today. Still haven’t broken below 174, I’d love to see my weight at 173 something before all this is over.

Glucose numbers are so darn good, I’m doing a happy dance.

My tongue is doing the same thing as my weight. Less white yesterday, a bit more today. It has not come close to being as white as it was last year at any point. I’m thinking less toxins?

Been a busy day; opening day of turkey season and I filled my tag on my farm with a twenty pound tom. So I spent most of the rest of the day field dressing and cutting turkey meat up and putting in the fridge in a marinade. I may have to eat a bite or two of turkey tonight, just saying, it’s going to be hard not to. Churned cream and made four pounds of butter. Also have a two pound “farmstead cheddar” in the press. In addition I helped a neighbor go through her new hive of honey bees that I set her up with last week. We needed to make sure a queen had “hatched out” so that her new hive would be a “productive one”. AND we DID find a new queen, all is well in the world of bees.

Now for the bad news. Anyone who wants to be jealous because of the weight I’ve lost so far……………..Well I was up two pound today. The non-stop downward trend has taken an upswing. Not to worry, it will come back down. I was just getting to where I was soooo enjoying the pound a day loss, for a few days anyways. Yesterday I was up half a pound and now today two. I hope that’s the end of this upward trend. It might be getting close to TTOM. Hard to tell I’m peri-menaposal and no longer regular, but still have hormone swings and cycles, but just not a predictable 28 days anymore……….sometimes every three weeks………………sometimes every six or eight………………..(which is the preferred spacing of said cycle). Anyways, yesterday I felt very emotional so that might be an indicator as well as the weight upswing. I’m just guessing.

So far my allergies are doing well. My husband thinks he has a bad cold, but I think it has to do with all the pollen. I’m expecting my new stronger immune system to keep me from catching his cold if it is one and keep me from seasonal allergy symptoms. So far so good, Yeah for raw milk.

Sometimes I wish I lived on a farm and was able to do the things you are doing. But I’ll settle for what I can do and be glad that I have awesome farmers in my area that I can trade dollars for good, wholesome food.

As to the weight gain, heck, we all gain a few pounds of water weight at that TOM. It’s natural and it doesn’t negate the weight loss you’ve seen while you have been on this cure. I am coming off the same thing and expect to see my weight drop some in the next day or two.

I too am not having any hay fever, but I haven’t had it for a few years now. Eating local honey can do that, as well I’m sure as drinking raw milk. It’s a homeopathic remedy. Since the cows are eating the grasses that produce some of the pollens and the bees are making honey from the pollens, ingesting both will help your immune system fight off the allergies.

You can get from here to there in a six hour drive. You should come visit our farm sometime. I’ll put you up in exchange for some chores. We could drink raw milk out of wine glasses for fun and toast all the greatness of raw milk and wholesome food.
