5 gallons of raw milk

Day 5 of my raw milk cure journey

I’m waking up earlier. It’s not insomnia, My body just apparently feels like I’ve had enough sleep. So tonight I’ll try to stay up a bit later.

I cut my milk consumption down to 3 1/2 quarts today. That’s two cups less than I was having total. Breaking it down to hourly increments, I’m drinking 9.3 ounces vs 10.6 ounces.  Not a large reduction on an hourly basis, but I’m hoping that the lower amount will reduce the incidence of diarrhea that I experienced last night. As with all things, time will tell.

Actually I had no diarrhea today.  Actually not much of anything, which does not bode well for weight tomorrow.

But I felt really good yesterday. Got a ton of work done, my brain was clear. I did get pretty tired after work, but that happens in real life. Stayed up until 10 pm (which is really good for me) and switched to my lighter comforter. I still cracked my window, but I just turned the mattress heater on slightly to compensate for the lighter cover. We are supposed to finally be getting consistent spring time weather by Friday and I just figured on changing the comforter a bit earlier, since my Friday looks kinda busy (house-cleaning)

Vital Statistics

2 data sets don’t make a pattern, but there is a slight correlation between yesterday’s basal temperature and weight loss. It looks like when my basal temperature is at or below 97.9, that I gain weight the next day (albeit a small amount) and I’m losing weight the day after my temperature is at least 98.1 or above.  Its something to look at, and I’ll be interested to see what happens in the future. I don’t expect any loss tomorrow since I didn’t use the bathroom much today.

Fasting Blood Glucose continues to drop. It’s still not where I want it, (below 100), but its moving in the right direction.  I’m amazed at my lunch time reading though. Glucose levels at 93. That’s pretty amazing, especially when you consider that in the afternoon, I’m not taking my blood reading 2 hours after a meal, I can’t.  With luck I’m getting it around 40-45 minutes after finishing drinking the last hour’s milk.

It’s interesting to me that milk sugars don’t affect me like processed sugars or fruit sugars. Milk sugars are unique.  Lactose is actually a molecule of glucose connected to a molecule of galactose.  It’s either that the galactose isn’t as harsh on my system as other sugars or the fat in the milk has a mitigating factor.

My tongue is still not completely white.  The furrow is white and the rest of my tongue still shows a pale pink.  The pink is paler because of the white that is coming out.

Yesterday was my “day 1″. I tried to start the day before but blew it when my Mother and Brother both wanted to go out to eat. Yesterday I succeeded, in my own way.

Your journey has inspired me. I read the books and then took that information and decided how it could fit into my own busy life as a farmer. My goal is to gain some vitality and to loose some weight. I started the day with 4oz of Kumbucha tea buffered with half a teaspoon of baking soda. (I’ve been doing this first thing every morning for a few months) It really wakes my liver up! Then because I didn’t want to go cold turkey off the caffeine I allowed myself one cup vs. the four to six I have in a day. I drink my coffee with a big dollop of real cream and a bit of stevia and a bit of dark chocolate powder. The one cup was wonderful it got rid of a headache I had awoke with and the headache didn’t come back, I was afraid it would by afternoon, cutting back so much, but it didn’t, yeah!! I sipped on milk all through the day but did not time myself and did not alter my schedule of chores and working in the garden and barn. I managed to drink two and a half quarts and never was really hungry. I take three tablespoons of honey a day for allergies, this is honey from my own bees. Did you know that honey mixed in milk is delicious!!! I thought to myself…”I’m living a life of MILK and HONEY”. Cooking supper for my husband was a little mentally difficult but not physically difficult. I ended the day with a long soak in a tub with epsom and bokin sea salts added. Last thing before bed I downed four ounces of tart cherry juice with about 12 ounces of water and then mixed in a few heaping spoonfuls of psyllium husks for fiber. My thinking being I might only be taking enough milk in to cause constipation???

My day 2…..today; started with a happy dance when the scale showed me down two pounds. Nothing to really brag about just starting something new. Around noon today after a meditation I fit in between chores I realized that my mouth had an awful taste in it, just rank. I looked in the mirror and my tongue was white and slimy looking, yuck and double yuck because of the taste. So I dug a tongue scraper out and scraped it about twenty times. Then I melted some coconut oil and swished it around my mouth for ten minutes and then spit that out, followed by more tongue scrapping. Finally the rank taste is gone but still my tongue is a bit white. Interesting………..very interesting.

      Nice!

Everyone approaches the milk cure in the way it best fits them. I think you are doing great. The white tongue s a side effect of detoxing as far as I can tell. It can get a lot whiter than that. No one really notices it unless you stick your tongue out at them anyways.

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences in the coming days.
