Still Drinking

(For 3 weeks, I did the milk cure, drinking 3 1/2 quarts to 1 gallon of raw milk each day. Except for water, all I had was milk. This is a series of posts (25) keeping track each day. Finally got my lighter comforter on the bed last night and had a good night’s sleep with the window open and under the comforter. Woke up at 5am feeling fine, but stayed in bed til 6am. Then it was up and starting my day.

Its nice so far this week to wake up and feel just good. No headaches, no body aches, no stomach aches.  Just good, clear-headed and ready for what the day has in store for me. (Which includes more mushroom dehydrating, and bbq grill cleaning.) Funny that I’m still working with food and food related things so much when I’m not ingesting anything but milk.

I ended up doing a strength training routine this morning. It’s a Wii EA Sports Active 2 workout modeled on the P90 routines. Today was chest and back. Lots of push ups. It’s the first time I started these routines, and while I did them, they were tough for me. I was so tired when I finished that I couldn’t do the Nordic Trac Interval training today. It’s okay, I got exercise in.  I’ll work towards being able to do both of them.

I’m still trying to rest as much as possible. So I’m not getting to some things I would normally do. That’s okay. Sitting in the sun, taking detox baths and cat naps between milk has been my afternoon and evening.

I’ve been wondering why my experience on this diet has been different from some of the other’s I’ve read. My first week was pretty much spent detoxing. And while I was quick to celebrate the gains (clear mind, etc), that didn’t diminish the stomach rumblings and many restroom trips I took every afternoon and evening as well as the aches and pains.  It seemed that every day after being on the milk cure for about 5 to 6 hours, my body would just rebel. It could have been that I was simply not used to the amount of sugars being digested. My own way of eating usually ends up with less (sometimes far less) carbohydrates and most of them are not sugars. I think at the most, I end up with about 90 grams of carbohydrates a day. Since this way of eating, all my carbohydrates come from sugars and it was about 192 grams a day last week and 164 now.

I also think it’s the amount of milk I am drinking and the way I am drinking it. Many of the other people doing this (see thehealthyhomeeconomist) seem to be perfectly fine drinking 5-6 cups of milk in a day as well as herbal teas and kombucha and keifir.  I’m drinking 14 cups of milk now and that is down from the 16! The only other thing I am taking in is a few sips of room temperature water when I am working out or if my mouth dries out during the day. I’d say I’m probably at less than a cup of water per day. I’m not needing or taking in anything else but the milk and some water.

I’m not saying that I’m the one doing it right. Everyone has the right to listen to their bodies and do what is good for them. But when I decided to do this, I chose to do it as close to the books recommendations as is possible in this accelerated age. I did this for the simple reason that I wanted to know what would happen and if a person could both survive and thrive ingesting only milk.

I’m trying to be thorough when I write these, sometimes I feel as if I come off as too observational and not really in touch with my body. That’s not true though, I’m really listening to my body. The problem of course is trying to figure out which of my symptoms is detox and which means I need to do something different.

Weight is still the same and basal temperature is in the same area.

Glucose numbers seem to have smoothed out, at least for today. It will be interesting to see where the rest of the week goes.

Eliminations have gone back to normal!  For which I am very grateful.

And yes, my tongue is still white, but seems a little pinker than the last few days.
